deinterlaced output is not deinterlaced

I'm having the same exact problem. I have yet to find a setting for export using quicktime that doesn't end up interlaced. Same source/project exported using imovie '08 looks great with no visible interlacing.

What codec are exporting to? I'm assuming your exporting via QuickTime, be sure that in the Size dialog, you are checking "deinterlace source video".

I see the same thing, I wouldn't say it was interlaced though it's more like it's made a hash of de-interlacing it.

After a few trials I note it appears to depend on your source video. My 1080i AIC imports do it, my 576i DV imports don't.

Oddly enough all the Quicktime formats I've tried so far with the exception of movie to tv have the same problem. I'm guessin the movie to ipod/phone doesn't have it either.

Is it me or do these two threads/issues appear to be somewhat similar?

Hi folks, I'm fairly new to the Apple world but glad I joined. I purchased a Canon HG20 yesterday and tried to shoot short clips in order to decide which format I like most etc..I shot the clip in the highest quality @ 30p

I'm exporting using iMovie '09 / Quicktime and I'm getting "jaggies" in my video when the is movement. I took a screenshot and posted it on my flickr account. Here is the link to the picture ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/29397587@N06/3235817267/). Is this what you're all talking about?

For refernce, on the other thread I posted a couple of short clips to show the difference between a FCP Export and a iMovie09 Export using the SAME EXACT settings in Quicktime. Please keep in mind that I used the same source clip in both instances.

Just did a test myself using FCE and iMovie '09 using the exact same settings...The FCE movie looks great. Wondering how this could slip through the cracks...

I agree. Maybe it slipped through the cracks the same way slow motion did in iMovie08. 😉
