Battery Drain after Update 2.2.1

Good Day All,

I Love my iPhone 3G but use it conservatively. I've installed the BatteryLog App and have gone an entire week on one charge. Two nights ago, I installed the 2.2.1 update and fully charged the phone overnight. When I went to bed last night I still had 80% power. This morning when I got up and went to use my phone, I had the red low battery screen. I've never experienced this type of performance from my iPhone ever.

Please note: I'm a retired U.S. Navy Submarine Radioman who paid attention when learning about the proper care and feeding of submarine batteries. This is one of the reasons why I love the BatteryLog App. It reminds me of my Submarine days taking and reading the logs.

Anyone else experiencing degraded battery performance after installing update 2.2.1?

iPhone, Windows XP

I, too, have seen an increase in battery drainage since the 2.2.1 update. I used to be able to go 1-2 days without recharging, now it's HALF a day and the phone runs super hot.

I've run the battery down to 0% a couple of times now, so it's not the physical battery. I've powered down and back up a number of times (hold down power/home and slide to power off), and that didn't help. Trying the reboot (hold down power/home, ignore the slide while still holding, phone goes off) technique now, I'll post back here about the success or failure of that trick.

Please check my actions/terms: is the above the right way to turn off and reboot the phone? If anyone knows how to restore to a prior backup, can you point me in the right direction?

Funny for me, two weeks after updating to 2.2.1, the phone started freezing. And would take long long periods of time to boot any app. So today I restored to a fresh copy of 2.2.1, restored my original settings and content and the phone appeared fine.

4 hours of idling after the restore, I'm down to approximately 75% battery from 100%. Have just initiated "Reset all settings" under the iphone menu, will charge the phone to 100% and see what happens this time. I'm hoping it was just a small corrupt setting that was saved.

We'll see...
