itunes won't accept my password - it is my aol user name account. I double checked it a million times and I can still log into AIM using the same password - just not itunes. What gives? I can't buy, download, update, anything...
I want to add that I logged into AOL and changed my password and itunes still won't accept my new password - which leads me to believe it can't find my username.
I wrote to apple but the email they sent back just told me to make sure my itunes software was up to date and I had clicked the AOL radio button. Which I specifically said that I had already done in my initial email to them!
I was having the same issue trying to login from my iPhone, and subsequently iTunes. Nothing worked until I read Zac's posting. I logged out of iTunes (on my computer), closed it, gave it a few minutes, started up iTunes again, logged in and was presented with updated TOS, agreed to it and all is well. You'd think a quick message about the issuance of a new TOS (and the requirement of accepting it to use iTunes) wouldn't be too much to ask for, but I'm just glad someone figured it out.
UNfortunately Zac's method doe not work for everyone.... which is greatly annoying me because i was finally going to try to convert my account from using my AOL screen name to using my apple ID. but i can't do that without first signing into my account the way it is. i tried running the update to 8.0.2 but it didn't change anything.... i can use my apple id to sign in but that doesn't help me as all my buying information as well as a cartful of songs are not yet attached to that e-mail... anyone find any other fixes?? or maybe find out if it's an AOL issue.... maybe their servers aren't letting iTunes gain access to check our log-in info?
I have logged out and closed itunes several times to no avail. I can't even get to a point where it's asking me about TOS...I'm super annoyed. Help, please!
Same problem here. When I try to log in with my AOL screen name and password it says the screen name doesn't exist or the password is not correct. I have the AOL radio button checked. It stopped working a couple of days ago.
Is there anyone out there from Apple who can help?
Me too... I can't deauthorize my PC, or re-authorize it. It allowed me to download the programs, now it won't allow me to restore the apps. I have been using my AOL account for sometime now too
ok... so after running software updater and getting no change, i tried looking through my aol desktop software to check out my aol settings and decided to clear my cookies and reset my cache for AOL (which also clears both in safari, btw) and lo an behold i was able to sign back into iTunes on my AOL info..... probably just a fluke but figured i'd put it out there in case it works for even just one or two people as Zac's answer did.
same trouble here. now i am logged out, with sixteen dollars worth of credits i can't get to. Ever notice how there' never a phone number to talk to someone from apple. unless someone out there has one.
I've exchanged two emails with Apple Support that were pointless. Stop telling me to update my software when I specifically write that all my software is updated. Anyway, I just gave it another try and this time I was able to log in. I have no idea why - I didn't change, upgrade, uninstall, reinstall anything. It just changed its mind.
low and behold, I just got signed in too. have not tried to make a purchase yet.trying now. purchase went fine. all is well with the world again. much have been a glitch at apple, or they were updating. i did have to agree to a new tos
thank you for your help. laura thank you too
I appear to have spoken too soon. I was able to log in last night using Zac's method, but this morning I'm back to the same problem everyone is having. I logged out and can't log back in. This is all just downright silly for us to have to deal with...
Is there anyword on a fix yet? This is really crappy, I can't add any of my apps, and a good portion of my music because of this.
This is really crappy customer service if Apple is blaming AOL. They shouldn't be blaming AOL, or saying it's an issue on their end, they should be working on a fix with them.
