Itunes won't accept my password

itunes won't accept my password - it is my aol user name account. I double checked it a million times and I can still log into AIM using the same password - just not itunes. What gives? I can't buy, download, update, anything...

I want to add that I logged into AOL and changed my password and itunes still won't accept my new password - which leads me to believe it can't find my username.

I just got off the chat with an AOL representative who suggested that I change my AOL password. This worked -- with the new password, I was immediately able to login to iTunes with my AOL screen name.

Summary of the problem as I experienced it:
1. attempt login via iTunes, using AOL screen name and correct password;
2. receive error message "AOL screen name not recognized or password incorrect";
3. Update AOL password (via "Account Settings" on www.aol.com);
4. attemt login via iTunes, using AOL screen name and new password.
5. Success. Yay.

Hope that helps.

Your post gave me an idea. I was having similar issues, except I was using my Apple ID and trying to turn on the Genius feature (which requires log in). I went to the iTunes store, saw I wasn't logged in, successfully logged in (using the same info I was just being rejected for) and then returned to Genius which allowed me to continue with no more problems after accepting the new TOS agreement.

I recommend logging out of iTunes (or logging in, in my case) and trying again.

ok, Apple, your issue with iTunes login has resurfaced... I've been using the same Apple ID and password for a while now. When i put it in today, the password was denied... The only security question it asked was my birthmonth and birthday -- no security question at all. I changed my password, which works for my account in Apple, but not for iTunes. I've restarted iTunes multiple times, with no change. Ideas, anyone?
