Itunes won't accept my password

Me too. I first noticed the problem yesterday trying to download an app to my new iPod Touch, but I made the purchase OK on my Mac. Today I can't log in from either machine. My AOL account and password are OK since the iPod and OSX Mail continue to fetch my emails.



This had better be fixed soon!

UPDATE:

After speaking to Apple support, it has been confirmed (to me) that this is a problem on Apple's end. So we all ain't going crazy. The engineers are aware of it and are working on it. Unfortunately there is no ETA to repair. If I hear anything further I'll pass it along.

I am on the Phone with Apple about the problem right now.....will let you all know what they say when I know something...

Seems as though something happened! :-D I just logged in successfully with my AOL screen name. WooHoo!

I think they fixed this AOL login problem - a good reason for me to finally switch my account over to an actual Apple ID. I was just finally able to log into iTunes for the first time today.

They say they are fixing the issue. And actually I can login now, but to be safe, I had them convert all my AOL member purchases to my AppleID, because he says it may be going in and out throughout the week as they continue to work on it....so for those of you that are still having the problem, you may want to contact them via phone and switch all your purchases to an apple account.

Or maybe it's just a coincidence... Anyway, let's hope it stays fixed.

How do you transfer the account to an apple account???

Unfortunately I think the only way is to call them and have them do it.

Is there a way to convert without calling? The support document says you can convert by trying to log in 3 times, but that hasn't done anything for me.

I have no idea...

In the meantime I'll be buying and downloading from Amazon's mp3 store.

Me too! I just found my way around that site. It's not pretty, it's a lot less logically laid out than iTunes, and making changes to your Account Details there is unnecessarily complex.

But it's cheap, you can buy single tracks that iTunes won't sell you unless you buy a whole album, and the quality is fine. So now I have two places to buy, and if iTunes plays up, well... there' still Amazon, lol. 😉
