Multiplexer error when burning from IDVD

I am getting a Multiplexer error after rendering a movie from IDVD. The project is 7GB in the "project info" screen. When I open the folder in "documents" it says its size it 92 KB. "Project info" says I have over 60 GB available. ? Do I need an external hard drive? Am I out of memory? Thank you!!

OK I've got similar problems-- first-- can you tell me where you find the ADVANCED menu - is this is Disk Utility, iDVD or the FINDER or???--

Myself, I did my first iMovie project -- just about 6 minutes of video, added a background song; added 6 chapter and used the filmstrip theme. OK now to go to iDVD (via SHARE) -- did a disk image; but then first tried to burn the DVD via the iDVD -- no luck -hung at the final minute like everyone here has been saying.

However I was able to make a disk image; and then with Disk Utility that burned a DVD just fine-- even played on my JVC DVD Player (April 2002 version).

But why can't I burn a DVD directly from iDVD-- I mean that's what the program is all about!

Also-- my DVD starts with the first scene; but I'd prefer it started with the MENU screne-- like purchased DVD Movies-- but likely that's a setting in iMovie or iDVD that I did not set...

But the burning issue is the burning! Why won't this work?

Additional comments welcome-- including a step-by-step if you would on your fix - and how to get the "DELETE ENCODED ASSETS" screne etc.

THANKS!

Steve

I had this problem and was about to lose my mind! I tried EVERYTHING on this forum and others including suggestions from 2 calls to Apple Care...(deleting endcoded assets, changing themes, changing burn speed to 4X, getting Sony DVD-R, etc.) Finally after about 5 or 6 days, 20+ tries to burn after changing things each time, on my 3rd call to Apple Care and my head about to explode since I had spent weeks creating this 74 minute iMovie and couldn't burn it...I got a solution!!!

After I created my iMovie, I originally did SHARE > iDVD and then created my project in iDVD. This is when I was getting the "Multiplexer Error" after it processed for 1-2 hours. The Apple Care representative had me do SHARE > MEDIA BROWSER > LARGE > PUBLISH. It took a long time (several hours) to publish. Once it was finished, I created my iDVD project and inserted the iMovie that way (it was saved under "My Movies" and I waited... It finally went through and burned the entire project with NO PROBLEMS! NO Multiplexer error!! (on either the Sony DVDs or the Sam's DVDs I had.)

Hope this helps and it works for you... Good luck!

Do you have chapters? Are any of them on or within transitions? Or within 2 seconds of the beginning or end of the movie?

Is any of your footage not in DV format?

Do you have enough free drive space? You need about 25 GB minimum for iDVD to work properly.

Did you put your movie into iDVD and then make changes to iMovie? If so, iDVD will not burn or play the movie properly. The only solution for this is to recreate your iDVD project.

exactly same problem here however, my DVDs work !! I don't know how but after having the error, I just eject the DVD and reload it again, and the DVD will work, but when i tried it on a PC, it didn't !. so I tried it in my Sony PlayStation and again it worked!!.. now the Question is why does it play on a mac & PS3 and not in a PC !! ( tried many 2 PCs BOTH with DVD drives )
I don't know what were apple thinking with those last updates !! 4 issues in a row !! come on apple !! have you ever heard about Quality Control !!

Did you try doing a 'save as disc image' from within your iDVD project? The process will look just like a burn, and take just as long for the encoding, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk.
A disk image file has some good advantages. It can be used to burn DVD disks, using Disk Utility or Toast, as many times as you wish. It can be a backup of your iDVD project. As such, you can safely delete, move, change or rename any of the media used in your project without losing the ability to reburn your project.
It takes up less space than the original iDVD project and iMovie project(s) used in it, so you can save drive space by deleting them and keeping the disk image file.
And, it is a better way to burn disks.

For burning DVDs to disks with best results, burn from a disk image file, use a good brand of DVD disk, and select a slow burn speed. Recommended brands are Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden. Keep burn speeds to 4x or less.
I always use Verbatim gold archival DVD disks, DVD-R, and burn at 4x. My disks play on everything.
