iTunes doesn't recognize iPod

Hi everyone, here's my problem: I installed iTunes, but when I plug in my ipod nothing happens. The ipod is recognized by the computer as the E: drive. It also displays the do not disconnect message on the screen. I have tried connecting with USB & firewire, but get the same results with each. The ipod is fully charged & I have been resetting it. Can anyone please help me figure this out?

Hi James,

Thanks for your response.... Why don't they tell you that.....???!! Yes I had plugged BOTH connectors into my PC....

I'll unplug the USB one and plug that into the mains charger and see what happens...

I'll let you know what happens...

Yep....that'll be the problem.... just got Firewire Connected now, USB connected to the mains...

I have been banging my head for a week to get this thing working, until I just read the "change drive letter" post. Changeing it from C worked PREFECTLY on both my USB 60GB Ipod Photos.

Apple needs this to be a item on their "can see in computer, but not itunes/updater" help page.

Changing ipod to I drive in control panel (see below in other replys) worked for me. It took 10 sec and then the problems i have had for hours and hours have dissapeared.

Try this and have apple write it on thier support site.

sh.. ..still does not work after a reboot. Can anyone help me. When formatting the Ipod then Itunes works perfectly but after a reboot itunes or the PC does not recognize ipod as an ipod. It can be seen in "my computer" but not accesses and not viewed in itunes.
