iPod touch 2G warranty?

I have the default 1 year warranty that came with my touch. I have 3 scratches on my ipod. Two of them are small and in the corner, but the other is pretty large and smack in the middle of the screen. It's very distracting? Do you think that the Apple Store will give me a replacement? It's still under warranty, and the 180 days free hasn't expired.

They are scratches you caused. It is not Apple's fault. The iPod Touch screen is not scratch resistant, so you should of got a screen protector to prevent it from even happening. Apple never claimed that is is scratch resistant, so you are responsible for damages. By the way, why would they replace your iPod because of a software problem. You just need to restore your iPod software. There is nothing wrong with your hardware. Apple is not going to do anything for you. I am sorry.
To add to the above, since you have those scratches on your screen that most likely voids your warranty. Apple cannot do anything for you even if something comes up that is not your fault. They will see the damage and not be able to help you. However, you can recycle the iPod and get a discount on a new one. 😉

_Yes there is._
You can always try to use some iClear. To do this put some on a cloth and rub all over the screen. Let the iClear dry onto the screen. Rub off the extra iClear when it dries and the scratches will be filled in with the clear iClear. You will notice the scratches less.
If that doesn't work you could try getting a screen protector either glossy or anti-glare whatever the preference. When you apply be sure to get all the dust off the screen. Some screen protectors come with a pre application film that removes dust.

If you happen to have dust under your screen the film can help hide that. Since you have those scratches on the screen Apple will not fix your iPod because you have some dust under there. There needs to be a more serious problem. For example the iPod's accelerometer stops working.

Hope this helps you solve the issue you are having.

Best of luck,

At least $30 USD + tax. It includes the iKlear spray, micro-fiber and micro-chamois and one other cloth. It also includes 6 travel packs. I think that this is a great deal, but it may not fill in the scratches completely. You can find this at the Apple Store or in some other stores that sell iPods.
If this does not work, you have a screen cleaner to use on your computer and TV's. The cleaner has a great anti-static property to it also. So if you hate dust being pulled towards your screen this is a must.
If all fails try to find a screen protector. They are very good at hiding imperfections. It is better to scratch the film instead of your iPod. The film costs from 10 to 20 USD. I just got my film today for my iPod and the film has one tiny scratch, but who cares at least the scratch isn't on my $400 USD iPod Touch.
