I have purchased a Sony KDL-32V400 LCD tv. I got the TV because of its 3 HDMI connections. But I have had no joy connecting my tv to it. I have now tried 3 HDMI cables, the last one costing £40 but still the tv does not recognise it. The only way I can get it to work is with component cables.
Anyone else having a similar problem or have any idea of a fix.
Cheers in advance.
Never had in working on HDMI only on Component. The ATV is set to 1080i HD and according to the TV manual the HDMI will support 1080i, 720p, 576p, 576i, 480p, 480i.
All I get is a black screen and TV says no devices connected on HDMI.
Ok, Well I bought my ATV yesterday and connected it to my Sony KDL32V4000 as follows.
I plugged the HDMI lead into HDMI 4 of the TV. Make sure that the HDMI lead is correctly inserted into the sockets. After selecting the AV input (I re-named it APPLE) the Apple TV setup menu appears.
On turning ATV on it went through the set up menu. Found my wireless connection and I have connected via WEP with a password.
The only General Setting I changed on Apple TV was it initially set itself up at 720p and I now have it set at 1080i. Both worked ok. The HDMI lead I have used was from Play.com and cost about a tenner. Good quality too.
The only thing I can think of is that is the HDMI socket defective, either on your TV or the ATV? Maybe try a full reset on the Apple TV. Instructions on page 31 in the setup guide.
I take it you can see Apple TV in your iTunes source list?
Strange you have 4 HDMI's I only have 3. I have tried all 3 and no luck. The HDMI works on the Apple TV as I have used it with a HDMI to DVI cable at work running on a 19" Monitor.
I have also reset it several times and no joy. The only thing I can think is all the HDMI's on the tv are defective!
The Apple tv works fine with my iMac I can see all Music, movies etc. and works seamlessly connected with component cable. May have to get in touch with Sony to find out how I can test the HDMI's. Thanks for your help........
No I haven't changed anything since I got it. I will take the ATV into work on Monday just to check on the HDMI output again. But it is a bit of a Mystery. Wish I had another HDMI device to check the TV.
Hi,
Plugged it into a DVI Monitor display with a DVI to HDMI cable and it worked!
I have registered my tv with Sony and pinged them an email.......Maybe it is a problem with the tv?
Thanks again for your help...... I own an Apple dealership in Norwich, if I can ever help you with anything.
