Feb 10, 2009 2:04 PM in response to Kate Retzby wyvern-eater,I had this problem too. I tried adding a firewall entry for iTunes but it made no difference. It turned out to be my http proxy setting. I had changed it to use glimmer but removing glimmer doesn't automatically change it back, and I hadn't thought to check there until iTunes had been failing to connect for a few days.
If the genius tells you another way to fix it, maybe you could post the results here? -
Feb 10, 2009 2:06 PM in response to Kate Retzby varjak paw,This is a long shot, but try deleting this folder:
yourhomefolder/Library/caches
Restart your system and try the Tuner again.
Hope that helps.

Oct 18, 2011 11:32 PM in response to varjak pawby I_Betyar,Greetings all;
I too am having the same problem, only since updating to iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5. I am not trying to use internet radio, nor do i even have any internet radio channels in my playlists. I am trying to use iTunes DJ with my iPhone on a closed network - ie: no internet connection. Same pesky alert that forces a forced quit.
Granted, its true that there is no internet connection, I want it that way. Is there any way to remedy this so I can listen to tunes and control with my iPhone?

the only problem is that **** error saying "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later." which freezes my itunes!! does anybody else have any input?? i tried express help and it ***. it wouldnt accept my mac serial number!
Ive searched everywhere and im getting frustrated!! please help!

Dec 14, 2011 4:08 AM in response to NzNativeby NzNative,I talked to Apple support today and they asked me if i was using any itunes plugins... YES!
I use TuneUp and once I made sure that this app wasn't running in the back ground the problem seems to have gone away!
It looks kike my NYE party is going to be a success!
Hope this helps you too I_Betyar.

Dec 23, 2011 5:26 PM in response to NzNativeby I_Betyar,Hey NzNative;
Just saw your post. Nope, I'm not running any iTunes plugins. How did your party go, any uninvited radio tuning service errors?
I'm on the verge of finding a hacker to kill this connection thing all together, Apple has been no help in this matter whatsoever.

Jan 6, 2012 12:36 PM in response to Kate Retzby cdminer,Well, I'm having the same problem. Songs on iTunes skip repeatedly and I get the radio tuning service error. I don't understand. I'm not streaming music. All the files are on an attached hard drive. It's always worked before.

Jan 12, 2012 12:28 PM in response to Kate Retzby ceedoubleu,Me too, it's just started and I want rid of it. Has anybody got a remedy to this annoying tic?

Jan 12, 2012 1:27 PM in response to I_Betyarby NzNative,The party was a great success but iTunes failed! The radio problem was still present and the remote app would not work on an adhoc network. So instead of having everybody on board, it was just the ones I got to sign onto my wifi.
