Photoshop Album 3.0 SE

I just got an iPod 60GB and am trying to sync my photos from my PC using iTunes 4.9 and PhotoShop Album 3.0 SE (i.e., the free version).

According to Apple.com:

"Note: While Photoshop Album allows you to sync only certain collections, Photoshop Album SE does not allow you to assign collection tags that are required for this to work."

However, PSA 3SE (contary to Apple's note) DOES, in fact, allow you to assign collection tags to your photos and organize them that way. Notwithstanding, iTunes is STILL not allowing me to sync albums (collections) but only folders. Basically, iTunes is just not recognizing Photoshop Album 3.0 SE and it's "collections" capability.

Since I categorically REFUSE to spend any more money just to get my iPod to do what it's supposed to do, buying any more software from Adobe (or Apple) is out of the question.

Any suggestions?

My iPod would recognize PS2, but would load in all the unwanted pictures I had in PS2. When I upgraded to PS3, my pesky iPod wouldn't even recognized it.

If you won't buy new software, how about new hardware? Get a Mac with iPhoto loaded. You are right, that's not the solution you were looking for... so if don't want to buy new software, you can always sync from a folder (of pictures) on your computer.

sure I can sync from a folder... but that's not what was advertised to me. It's a big, big, drag to buy an (expensive) piece of hardware and have it not function appropriately without spending MORE money. And I have no guarantee that it'll work if I buy the paid version anyway. ESPECIALLY when it worked ok with the previous SE version.

Wouldn't that get your dander up?

On the bright side... if Apple support wants to GIVE me a powerbook to solve the problem, heck, that's OK by me.

I don't understand why its hard to just Organize all your Photos into little Folders just like how Adobe would do with its albums, I think that is the easiest because if Adobe ever goes belly up and loses its albums your off to remaking them over again.

Because Photoshop Album is a much more robust organizational tool than just "folders". I have many photos that are members of multiple different collections, which you can't do without duplicating files -- and when you've got over 1,500 photos, it gets too complicated quickly.

I just downloaded the new itunes (iTunes 5.1) which says it supports PS3 (Photoshop Album 3.0) but my iTunes still doesnt see my PS3. what is the problem?

Its like apple doesnt care about us windows user. we went out and paid all this money on their iPod and they can't get the photo syc to work for photoshop album 3.0. The only thing that works is you can syc it to a folder.

maybe what they need to do is have some sort of new software that comes with itunes that will org all the pictures for you. it doesnt sound hard to do and its apple they can do about anything.

Well Gabriel, what was advertised to you?

...hardware...not function appropriately...

I fail to see how your ipod is not functioning appropriately.

no gurantee that it'll work...especially when it worked ok with the previous SE version.

The previous SE version didn't have "collection tags" meaning all your photos would have been in one big album when you synced. In that respect, syncing from a folder would be better since you could create "albums"

You are right that PS album is a good tool - and I think Apple should support version 3. I don't know why they don't.
