M-Audio Keystation 49e

So I recently picked up a keyboard from m-audio and have been having some minor issues getting it to make sound through my computer. I thought the problem might have been from a faulty usb cable (which was some of the problem) so I went out and purchased the m-audio midi-sport uno which connects from the midi-out port of the keystation 49e to the usb in my macbook. The only problem I am having is that my computer is recognizing that the keyboard is there but it will not play any notes through garageband or Reason 4. I have all of the drivers installed and have read thoroughly through the manual. If anyone could help me with this dilemma I would greatly appreciate it.
