Turning off Norton AntiVirus when installing Final Cut

Hi,
I can't figure out how find -- and then turn off -- Norton AntiVirus protection on my Macbook Pro before installing Final Cut Pro. Does anyone know if it comes preinstalled? I know something is checking for virus when I download, but I can't find anything "Norton" when I search. Also, do you really need to turn it off to install Final Cut?

You most likely do not have Norton installed, but rather some malware that you have downloaded.
Use MacScan to check your system for garbage.
Do you use limewire or other bit-torrent stuff? Also many illegal or bootleg copies of software contain malware or worse.

Hi again,
Long story short, I have the Leopard disc and I reinstalled it after erasing my hard drive. I used Migration Assistant to restore my applications etc. from the Time Machine backup on my external hard drive. It took a couple of hours but it hasn't worked and now my desktop and documents won't open and a window appears telling me "you don't have sufficient access privileges." I can't figure out what to do next. Could someone please tell me how to restore my desktop and applications? Thanks!

Using Migration Assistant is how Leopard tells you to get back your system after you erase and install Leopard. To get back my system now, should I reinstall Leopard and if so, how do I get back my settings from the Leopard back-up on my external hard drive? Pretty please could someone advise? I'm totally panicked.

Yes, this is exactly what it is. I crashed my system by reinstalling Leopard for no reason. I could cry. Thanks for finding this because I missed it entirely on the Yahoo site.

Nick Holmes: Ok, we know you're pretty down on Norton, but...

Don't you feel even a small twinge of regret that you exhorted this poor guy to spend hours backing up and reinstalling Leopard and then having problems getting his old apps back -- when the problem was actually related to Yahoo mail downloads?
