Can't play youtube videos all of a sudden

Hello,

I have been trying to access my iTouch's youtube feature. I can find videos, but when I tap on one to play it, I get a message saying "this movie cannot be played". No matter what the video is, I keep getting the same message. It is not my WiFi connection; I can access anything and everything. Also, I have been able to play youtube videos before, just suddenly I can't. It's just recently when I find a youtube video and tap to play it, I get that "this movie cannot be played" message. Any reason why, and is there a way I can fix it?

Thank you.

Hello everyone,
I think that I have found a solution to our Youtube problem. Like you I was unable to get youtube on my ipod touch with that famous line playing over and over "this movie connot be played". It took my son to go on the safari icon the tpe in youtube in the search box at the top, this is now how I view youtube. ope this helps for now. I guess the we have to wait for youtube to catch up until then we can go this way. 🙂

This is really weird. I did more testing and if I go to the "Featured" section on the YouTube app and play the first two videos (Adventures of Puffincat and 1st Collaborative Sitcom...) in the list they play fine. But trying to play any of the rest of them in the "Featured" list give me the "This movie cannot be played" error. Then if I go to "Most Viewed" for Today, all of those clips (at least the first 25) play fine. The same goes for Most Viewed for This Week. But if I try to view any of the videos under All for Most Viewed, none of them work. Also, older videos I bookmarked no longer work either.

THIS FIXED IT FOR ME:
Restore the phone, and update as NEW PHONE (not from a Backup).
all movies from my previous bookmark list tried so far work without a glitch.

(then tried to restore from a Backup, 3 weeks old(!), got same problem!, then repeated the NEW PHONE procedure again and all is well.)

Hence the problem seems to be local, with the phone/pod and not with YouTube. Did we get a virus yesterday or was there a sun storm?

The exact same thing happened to me! On Sunday, I believe. The 22st. I can watch certain videos like the top 2 on my bookmarks but everything else has the same "This Movie Cannot Be Played" message. And it was working fine in the morning. I tried resetting the settings on my Wi-Fi, and the settings on my iTouch. And I don't feel like restoring my ipod and putting everything back on...
If someone finds out the reason for this and perhaps, a fix. Please let me know.
Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem, though. Thought i was the only one, lol (whew)

Also I have the 2G iTouch
