Can't play youtube videos all of a sudden

Same here. I only can play youtube videos via the google app but not the youtube app that by default is on my 3g. The frustrating thing is that noone seems to care from apple or youtube.
wake up gentlemen at least give us an answer even if this will mean "we dont care about iphone 3g users get lost"

Has anyone tried to re-install the app? See if that works. =)

I bought a new 16G Touch 2 weeks ago and had same problem - some videos get message "can not play" others start to play but stop after 10 to 15 seconds. Tonight I returned the Touch and got a new one in exchange - does the EXACT same thing. This is very frustrating. I agree - when is Apple going to respond to this problem with some help?

Apple obviously seems to be avoiding this thread. i wish a representative or staff could come post in this thread and say something about this error that we all get. disappointing. :/

I've been messing about with my iPod all morning trying to sort this problem out and it's quite a relief to see it's not just affecting me. I reset my iPod earlier and then forgot how to connect to the internet again and it's been a real pain. Obviously this is an Apple issue if so many people had no problems before but now can't get onto YouTube in the way they did before. I can connect via Safari but I preferred just clicking on the icon on the home screen.

Hope they sort it out soon.

I have been having that exact same problem as well.

What makes me really angry is that NO APPLE GENIOUS OR JERK IS TAKING ThE PAIN TO REPLY. JUST TO REPLY. THANK YOU APPLE.

I am sure we are just a fraction of the people affected who have managed to find this thread and realise that this problem is about Apple and not actually a fault with out iPods. It makes you wonder how many people are totally unaware and are spending ages restoring their iPods and losing all their data and having to load it all on again only to find YouTube still isn't working like it should.

I agree someone from Apple should at least have the courtesy of acknowledging this problem and letting us know when it will be sorted out. I didn't spend over £200 to buy a product that doesn't do what it says it does on the box!

Once again crapple shows thier lack if loyalty to the customer after taking huges amounts of money. Please give an answer if some sort. There is a lot of good android phones coming out this year.....

I am also having this problem. Numerous videos I have tried to watch on my Touch won't play and I get the message 'error playing movie'. I would appreciate it if Apple would address this problem.

let me join the party and report the same problem here. I've seen some of the Featured Videos work, but nothing that I search for.

This is the 2nd YouTube related problem I've come across in 2 weeks of ownership. The first was solved by throttling my home wifi to 11mbps.

Not greatly impressed with the iPhone so far!

I have the same problem. Some videos work and some don't. the videos that don't work on my itouch i can see on my computer. frustrating

If I might make a suggestion, it might be a good idea to call Apple and let them know about the issues your having. I too have had this problem and called Apple about it. If enough people call with this problem, a note will be made about it and corrective action taken.

What I have found that helped me was to power cycle the router and then reset the network settings on the iPod.

Hi All, I wanted to post to say ME TOO!! I have a 3g Iphone, my son has the brand new Itouch. I have to say that its random, some You Tube videos work on my iphone, alot dont. Some that wont work for me on my Iphone will work on my sons Itouch, and vice versa. This is only within the last week or so, but we both have added apps to our devices, however, different ones, so I doubt it is app related. I do agree however that apple should be addressing this, its not supposed to work randomly, its supposed to WORK. I also wanted to put out there that most of older bookmarks work, and the more recent ones do not, not even on safari. I tried playing the Achmed the dead terrorist, that I played ages ago and bookmarked, and it would not work on youtube or safari, but it was never played on my sons itouch and it worked. Apple, it would be nice to address this for all, it seems to me from what Ive read it is a WORLDWIDE issue, I would find it funny to be in an ATT store, demonstrating an Iphone, and one of the main apps prided by apple wont work. Get it together please!!

I did call Apple about this problem. I even told the rep I talked to that he should look at the Apple Discussions page for additional information.

He was absolutely useless - he told me I needed to go to my nearest Apple store to get a new iPod Touch.
