The problem does not occur after a full erase of all content until after I restore from backup.

About 1/2 of my bookmarked movies won't play. Some searched movies will not play and some will. I have not been able to find a Featured or Most Viewed video that will fail to play.

Bookmarked or searched movies that will not play from YouTube app will play from Safari.

It may originate as a YouTube problem but whatever it is corrupts the iPhone/iPod Touch. I can play movies immediately after doing a full erase of my unit. But as soon as I restore from backup the problem is back. Also some units are having the same problem playing iTunes videos.

Apple is going to have to figure out a way to "decontaminate" our units.

It does appear that some progress has been made in that most videos will now play on my iphone, however, any that had been tried and failed to play previously, whether they were bookmarked or not, are giving the dreaded "This movie could not be played" message. It seems like they are tagged as "bad" by the You Tube app. for some reason- could it be how they are cached in the phone as some have suggested, or maybe a virus has attached itself to only those videos that were previously tried to be played before they began addressing the problem and are thus "corrupted" as other users have suspected.

Does anyone think Apple will ever step in to address the problem if You Tube/Google is unsuccessful in fixing it??

Deleting all bookmarks and history in the YouTube app did not work for me. The problem persists on the movies that I wanted to play -- and that used to play -- and still play on my iPod Touch.

This will all get worse -- and very confused -- in the UK now with the great copyright peoblem that is forcing YouTube to block certain music videas. For those that haven't heard, YouTube have failed to reach agreement for a new deal with the UK's Performing Rights Society on royalty payments. Greed rules.

I'm now talking to myself. Apple, stop being blind to this problem.

I've just played a movie successfully on my iPod Touch which will not play on my iPhone. Both are using my home WiFi. Both are at software revision 2.2.1. It's just so obvious to this software guy that it is a problem with the iPhone YouTube app being corrupted on the iPhone at the time of the YouTube format transition.

C'mon, smell the coffee, Apple . . .
