This movie could not be played - YouTube

Same issue here on my iPhone 3G. Most videos on the "featured" tab appear to be ok. The "most viewed" do not.

Partner's iPhone 2G seems to be able to play them all though.

Much to my astonishment, the YouTube videos that I couldn't play on my iPhone now all play. I have done nothing to the iPhone.

So it looks like a server-side problem.

But what I still do not understand is why these videos used to play, then didn't but now do, bearing in mind that they played OK on the iPod Touch when they would not play on the iPhone.

Will anybody ever tell us what went wrong?

Yeah, especially, since I still have the problem. I like to watch the TEDTalks while I work out. Now I have to use safari. Usable, but only just.

It appears to be fixed for myself as well and I hadn't made any changes to my iPhone, bookmarks or settings.

YES! My bookmarks are playing again. A couple are really choppy, but they loaded and at least started.

I did nothing but wait out the problem. Well, I did upgrade to iTunes 8.1 last night, but I'm pretty sure that is not related.

I work in the IT industry. I've seen nothing in any trade publications about this problems.

Now let's see how stable this is.

Oh my gosh. It works again! Apple support told me to wait and things would go back to normal. I wonder what they knew?

I have another thread going on this but I also found this one.

This is a new 3G iphone, just got it yesterday.

youtube worked yesterday on home wi fi but this morning the same videos would not play.
Won't play from youtube app on phone, won't play on safari on iphone.

Will play using edge/3G.
deleting history was no help.
restore was no help.
so what is the verdict? just wait?
seems kind of lame.

Maybe it was premature to say it was fixed. Most videos are playing, but I still get the dreaded "this movie" message once in a while. Very random.
