Drive won't read any dvd-ejects it automatically after spinning some time

The SuperDrive on my MBP has stopped recognizing/reading any blank DVD media (and many recorded DVDs, including movie discs). It spins for some time with a noise and then ejects it out. The same media works fine in my wife's Sony Vaio laptop.

There was a thread on this previously, but Apple has closed it:

I know Apple won't own up to the problem, so has anyone found a solution?

Macbook Pro CD/DVD Drive FIX!

Same here my DVD drive couldn't read any disks. Thanks for this forum I put 2 and 2 together and figured out that it may be too dirty inside the DVD drive.

Here is what I did that worked:

- Shutdown your Macbook Pro and if you can take out the battery do so also just in case for electrical shock.

- I used the cloth that I have to clean my glasses and I wrapped it around a steel ruler which is very thin. If you don't have a steel ruler you can use a flexible butter knife it will work as well. DO NOT USE A SHARP KNIFE, you will destroy the drive inside.

- I passed it inside the DVD drive, going back and forth, side by side a few times and made sure not to cut the front entrance DVD flaps of the Macbook Pro.

- Then I gently pulled the ruler out and found lots of dirt around the glass cleaner cloth.

- Put the Battery back in.

- Turned the Macbook Pro on, entered a DVD and a low pitch sound rang that read the DVD. The DVD popped up right away on my desktop! WOW!!!!!!

Hope this will help you guys, let me know if it helps! ;-)

PROBLEM SOLVED........I had this problem with my MBP-13 inch Mid 2010. I have tried many different solutions proposed here but unfortunately they weren't effective. Finally i noticed from a post that this is Mac-OSX DVD Drive calibration issue. Super simple solution : keep your MBP's right side up and hold it up when you are trying to insert any CD or DVD. Meanwhile the left side should be on a table so you should keep your macbook with an angle like 60 degree.

After suffering my MacBook Pro failing to read my DVD's I simply bought an exterior DVD read re-write, and in three days I was enjoying all my DVD's for a remarkable low cost
