dvd labels too thick?

I have a 13" white Macbook and have burned 5 dvd's worth of stuff off my harddrive...no problem. I labelled the dvd's and filed them. Now it seems the label has made them too thick to run unobstructed in the drive, and I can't access any of the info. Is this a common problem?

Sounds about right to me. Pressure sensitive labels aren't good. They tend to come off after a while - especially from the heat inside a drive. They can also affect the balance of the disc.

It may be ugly, but the usual course is to use a permanent marker. I prefer to use a black extra-fine tip Sharpie.

Never, Ever, use (or make) DVDs or CDs with labels!!!

This is more of an issue for slot-loading drives than for the tray-loading ones. Slot-loading drives don't have much wiggle room and aren't easily unjammed if things get stuck. With a tray-loading drive, you're less likely to have issues.

I have several DVDs with labels that work fine in both my MacBook and iBook--but when I create them, I use a fine-point sharpie, just in case.
