Final Cut Studio Academic Version - confused buyer.

Hello,

I am about to buy Final Cut Studio 2 using the Academic Discount Program. I know that by purchasing the academic version I will not be able to upgrade. When I access the page (viewing it as a student) where I can see the different types of "Pro Design" softwares that I can buy, I see two "Final Cut Studio 2". One is Final Cut Studio 2 and the other one is Final Cut Studio 2 Academic. Both cost the same $699. When I select Final Cut Studio 2 it does not say that this is an upgrade version.
I'm afraid of selecting the one that does NOT have the word Academic because it might be an upgrade version even though it doesn't say.

Help!

Thank you...

A humble confused customer....

Actually, I (OP)was looking more for the academic price than the Academic
version. It was until I had the option of buying the retail version
with the student discount. I was afraid that I was getting the
upgrade version of Final Cut Studio 1.

I'll post my results when I get the box. OH! Also, all of you who have
posted...I wanted to say "Thank You" for posting. It is my first time posting
a question in the Apple forums, and I find it very rewarding that at least
there are friendly people that like to help or at least give their opinions.

To be honest, it also depends on the day, but the vast majority of the time we're welcoming and friendly. Just don't ask how to import a song bought from iTunes into FCP 😉 BTW, I also went through a lot because when I bought my FCS1 Academic, there was nothing on the order page that said it wasn't upgradable, but after a couple calls to Customer Service, they agreed to a partial credit which was good enough for me and allowed me to move up to FCS2. That's a really nice thing about Apple, their customer service is top notch.

I received my version of FCS 2 today. I ordered the academic version, but the sticker on the box says retail. I checked under "about final cut pro" and it doesn't say "academic". I want to confirm that it is the retail version, and not the academic version. Is there anyplace else I need to check to ensure that it is the retail version? Thanks
