How to prevent silence at beginning of bounced file

I like to make music with other people online. When I want to send them a file, I bounce one or more tracks and Logic Pro adds a noticeable amount of silence to the beginning of the file. How do I prevent this? When my partners import such a file they have to manually delete this silence so that it perfectly aligns to the metronome in their DAW.

When EXPORTING a single track this does not happen, when BOUNCING the same single track about a hundredth of a second is added, just enough to be problematic. I need to be able to bounce multiple tracks without the added silence.

Again, is there a way to prevent Logic Pro from adding unwanted silence to the beginning of bounced sound file?

I am already positioning cycle locators and have the green bar at the top of the track screen. This is a very tiny addition of silence that only happens in bounce and never in export.

Bounce adds approximately 1/100 of a second of extra silence at the beginning of a bounced file. Export does not do this.

Lets say we have an audio or software instrument track of four measures. Through these four measures we have an organ note held throughout. Constant sound. Now lets use the scissors tool to cut the first and last measures so there is a single region of 2 measures in the center. We keep the two surrounding two single measure regions. If we play this in Logic pro you will hear a solid four measures of uninterrupted sound.

Now, lets put our locators and cycle button on so that those middle two measures would sound forever if we hit play. If we export this center region there is no silence added to the beginning of the file. If we bounce this section then silence will be added, approximately 1/100th of a second which is just enough to throw the timing noticeably off.

I don't want bounce adding extra silence to the beginning of a bounced file. I want to know how to stop it. Setting locators and activating cycle does not solve this; indeed, this is what I have been doing all along.

BTW, I always give a full two measures of music before where I want the other person to add their part so they have context. Still, the timing is off because of the added bit of silence in the bounced file when added to the other persons project.

I have already mentioned exporting a single track and explained that the extra unwanted silence is not in the exported track, only the bounced track.

The bounced file is already the exact size of the locators, say, precisely 2 measures. I don't understand the purpose of selecting an empty region along these lines.

Also, I have no idea what "PDC" is. Where do I find the setting for this? I am very willing to try but I cannot find it and it is not in the index of the Logic Pro 8 manual.

I have found a workable though not quite ideal solution. I can bounce as I have been and then create a new project, add just the one bounced file, zoom in all the way both horizontally and vertically in the track view, locate the first instance where the wave form varies one pixel, snip at that point, remove the region to the left of the snip to delete the silence, zoom out, move the remaining region all the way to the left and then export. This syncs perfectly when imported to another DAW.

The problem is, I can only do this with an uncompressed file, but that is not such a big deal because I would only want to do this with excerpts. So, problem solved by a workaround. Any suggestions to something more automatic and elegant are more than welcome.

Thanks for the help (and yelling),

Converting to mp3 files puts some hundreds of samples in front of the file, naturally.

"LAME (and all other MDCT based encoders) add padding to the beginning and end of each song. LAME embeds the amount of padding in the ancillary data of the first frame of the MP3 file. (LAME INFO tag)." (source internet)

However aiff should have no additional samples added in front after bouncing. I don't know how LogicPro 8 reacts when doing both, a bouncing of mp3 and aiff.

Hi,
sure...
Just configure the Left Rigth Locators of the song and hit on Cycle button..
when you hit on Cycle button a Green Line hppears in the timeline of the arrangment..
you can easly move by using mouse fir fine adjustind the desidered Starting/ending point of your Bounce...

however, is always a good idea to don't start too much close to the beginning of the song/track...
I suggest to adjust at least 1/8 before the real starting...

In any case you can set manually the Left and Rigth Locators directly in the Logic Bounce windows! (as you can see in the following picture.

.... seems to start to be another *impossibile event*
... try to delete logic preferences
(when bounce Cycle events should be turned off by default automatically... but i'm not sure I use to set locators and I love to have some little silence before bounce)

check also for PDC.. must be set as all

if you need to export only one track you can also use Export Region as Audio... this should be exactly the seme size as Region

you can Also use an Empty Region (instead use Cycle) and use it to define the size of the Bounce.
if you select an empty Region the resulting Bounce files will be with EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE OF THE SELECTED REGION!

(sorry for my loud writing 😉 )
