iMovie does not accept .m4v files?
Using Handbrake, I converted a DVD into an .m4v format. Now I want to edit that DVD using iMovie, but when I try to import the file into the application, the file is greyed out and I cannot access it. The only action I can take with this file is to view it on iTunes.
I've read in a few posts that I need to invest in some type of format converter, but I really don't want to spend $50 on a converter, such as "iSkysoft iMedia Converter" (when I use the free trial it gives me a watermark... no, thanks.) I also read somewhere that if I pay $25 for Quicktime Pro, I can use the "export" option and convert the .m4v into a .dv using the "Movie to DV stream settings." From there it should supposedly be iMovie-compatible. However, I do not want to pay for something that won't work, and I'm already frustrated enough with this process.
If anyone could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.
