Top case and keyboard replacement. Do it yourself...?

Can anyone advise on if it's a simple swap when replacing the top case and keyboard on a MacBook Pro 2.2 15".

Apple is quoting £70 repair charge (plus parts) and 7 days in the shop to replace my top case and keyboard. My system is used everyday for work and I don't have the option of being without it. If Apple did need it for a week I would be forced to buy a new machine.

I've found a video on Youtube showing that it's simply a matter of removing about 14 screws and unplugging the ribbon cable. After the replacement, would one have to replace any permissions or perform any further software updates or repairs to have it back to working condition? Or is it simply a plug and go part?

Also just in case it matters, the system does work with an external keyboard and mouse connected.

Thanks in advance.
