Safari: hanging with the beachball.

So, I'm using a Macbook Pro and recently installed Safari 4, but this has been happening even before with Safari 3, so I'm putting it here.

The problem s quite simple really, I'm getting a spinning beachball nearly every single time I open a new link in a new tab (apple + click link), and it's driving me crazy. I have the surfing habit of going to a page and opening several links from there in new tabs and then reading them, and it gets really annoying when you have to wait 4-6 seconds each time you open a new link in a new tab.

It's also hanging a lot when scrolling average sized pages that are heavy on images. I know that's kinda normal, but as a long, long time Mac user I can tell you that it is abnormally frequent.

Any help?

Rejohnsonil....hope it stays fixed for you. Not to cast a dark shadow, but you said it's worked before only to return after a few hours. Just curious, what makes you feel different this time?

Also, fyi in response to the post about which version of Onyx, I'm still running Tiger, so none of my experiences necessarily relate to Leopard/Snow Leopard.

Best.....

Hi
We have problems with a hanging beachball on the www.nike.com - go through to Canada as a country. It simply hangs and we have to force quit every time. I have reset Safari and have tried it on different users. I selected Never on RSS and do not have a Syndication file. No matter what I have tried the problem persists. The website is accessible no problem on a PC and other websites work fine on the Mac. It makes no sense to me. I know next to nothing about computers and less about Macs than PC's. So if you have suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it but they will have to be Instructions for Mac Dummies please. Thanks

I'm having the same problem (under Tiger), apparently after I come from Top Sites and waiting for a page to load.

I reset Safari, and run Cocktail to do the crons and repair permissions. This latter seems to have fixed the problem for some days, and then the spinning ball appeared again.

I have no .broken files in the Syndication folder. I guess it is something Safari breaks during the use.

Very, very annoying.
