Can I use new 1080/30p Sony FX-1000 & avoid iM '09 "interlace" problems?

The whole interlace/deinterlace/codecs, etc. problems are all way beyond me. Can I avoid all these '09 iM/iDVD image quality problems (my final goal is a great looking DVD just like I was able to do way back in the iMovie 4 days with SD) with a 1080/30p camcorder? From the discussion board I seem to conclude that all the problems relate to shooting with an "interlaced" camera, but now I just found the new Sony HDR-FX1000 (3-chip) that shoots 1080/30p. It's still HDV tape format, but that's O.K. for now. Will my '09 iM editing life be trouble-free with this camera ??? I would be buying the new 2.93 GHz iMac that just came out.

Hi Steve: I could not begin to recap the confusions of the "deinterlaced is not interlaced" string of 300 posts over the past month re: converting interlaced acquisition to AIC and/or Quicktime and/or a hundred other options and tweeks. I just don't have a clue. What I want to do is connect a HD camcorder (I currently have a Canon HV 20 but have not done any HD editing because I don't have iM 06, 08 or 09), and am still looking for the easiest, problem-free, high quality camcorder/iM 09 combo - even if I must buy a new $3,500.00 HD camcorder (the HV 20 being not very competent or efficient on several levels) - that will let me painlessly import from camcorder to iM 09 in a way that excellent quality is retained from original acquistion through editing and iDVD disc burn. I thought deinterlacing, one of the prominent problems discussed in the 300-post string, might not apply to a 1080/30p camera since interlacing does not apply, correct?

But I don't know of other problems that could also arise with the FX1000 1080/30p. Your advice, obviously prized throughout many discussion board topics, is equally appreciated here.
