any cord that they make for it should be included in the price, IMO! With their pricing structure, I can just imagine IF they make a cord, it will be north of $30. ANd if that's the case they can kiss my purchase good bye. I'm a 9-iPod and counting guy (me and my wife) but I'm not STOOPID and will buy an iPod (the only APple stuff I buy) that so glaringly omits an item necessary to get one of it's FEW unique features to actually WORK!!!

I am racing out to get a few hundred left-over 2Gb colorful 2nd generation iPod Shuffles! Our family has 2 now, soon 202. eBay away! I plug it into my car via a cassette adapter (yes, my 2002 Volvo has a cassette player-- wonderful- my wife's Rav4 from 2000 has one too!)

GO square G2 2G iPod Shuffle -- and if I wanted to know what song I was listening to, I'd use my iTouch!

If you look carefully at the film (which you claim to have done), you will see the controls are in fact quite close to the right ear, and will not in fact be inside your clothes as they are clearly above the collar line. The buttons will be easy to find and in fact are less likely to be confused as there can be no orientation issues which can occur on the old model.

In a few weeks there will be third party cables which have the controls on the end of them with a socket for your own headphones, how easy is that.

Perfect!

When I'm running I can have the controls swinging around near my ear! What a great innovation!

Umm, not as easy as just plugging in whatever headphones you want! (like the 2G)

It's amazing what lengths people will go to in defending a simply dumb move by Apple!

I'm not defending a dumb decision, I'm simply stating the obvious.

If the new shuffle is not for you then fine, don't buy one. Stick with your 2G.

I suspect that it will still sell in great numbers. I have ordered one because for 'me' it is an improvement over the 2G that I have. I prefer the 4G storage, I really like the VoiceOver and Playlist selection features and I like the remote control option. I don't mind the Apple headphones, I use them on my 2G shuffle and will use them on the 3G. Many, many people do not change there iPod headphones, you still see loads of people with them day in day out. Most people are buying the shuffle as a cheap iPod and are not bothered about buying extra headphones.

Some people don't like change, others do. They can't please everyone and nor should they try.

I use the 2nd gen 1gb shuffle on my Harley. I have a cord with a female connector on each end and run it through the stereo on my Harley. I clip the Shuffle back onto the cord (not on me... hard to steer bike when you are clipped to it!)and use the controls for skipping around or for volume. I bought the shuffle specifically for this as I do not want to lose or ruin an ipod that was very expensive. Now the 2nd gen 2gb seems to have disappeared. I am VERY disappointed.

All my riding friends have bought or will be buying a shuffle to do the same. I guess I better get them to hurry up an buy a 2nd generation.

Hi folks,

I agree with most of the above (can´t understand the headphone stuff), but even more important: Do you like the new design?

When I frist saw it, I thought "whow", but after looking closely, it resembled a bar of aluminum with no reference to Apple at all. Why is the Apple logo printed on the backside (on the clip)? Why isn´t there the logo on the front engraved?

Interested to read your opinions...

Cheers
Tom
