iTunes store unavailable?

Anyone else having trouble connecting to iTunes Store? For the last hour (2 pm EDT - 3 pm EDT) I've been attempting to connect to the iTunes Store and iTunes keeps telling me, "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store, Make sure your network connection is active and try again."

Obviously my network connection is okay (I posted this).

I have the same problem. Ever since I upgraded to 8.1, I've been unable to complete a set of downloads that were still in process when I lost my Internet connection. I'm able to access the store fine and I'm able to buy and download new items from the store, but I am unable to d/l 11 items that were in the queue when I got disconnected.

Here's a solution that seems to work: Add something new to your download queue (i.e. buy something new). Once you purchase it, iTunes should check with the Apple store and the new item should be added to your queue and all of your downloads should begin. Free items should also work.

P.S. If you contact Apple support they may or may not clear your queue and re-add everything. Try to avoid this, because I now have 72 items in my download queue and there is no way to delete ones I've already downloaded without completely downloading them again.

Maybe someone can solve my problem.
So I am using my macbook and using my normal home internet wireless connection.
I am not able to log into my Itunes account.
I get the message "We could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection could not be made"

Fine so I just switch to picking up my neighbors wireless signal and then retry accessing itunes.
Guess what NO PROBLEMS.

I did install the 8.1 update today.

Anyone have any suggestions????

FINALLY!!!!

I just got an email from iTunes UK and they have resolved the issue re downloads and I am now downloading a HD tv episode I've been waiting for since last week. (However, I managed to almost complete the download last time but then it crashed my iTunes - fingers crossed it won't do the same again)

Maybe you guys should all check your accounts again now and see if you can access your store accounts and initiate pending downloads.

Let me know if the store is fixed for you too - hope it is!

Thanks to another thread, I was finally able to fix my problem! The thread is:

<http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1821031&start=15&tstart=0>

It's about Keychains. Aparantly, some keychain files in my System/Library/Keychains folder were removed somehow? Clearly I am the culprit because I had a folder on my desktop where I moved the keychain files to, but I don't remember why?

Oh yeah! Because my keychain was corrupt according to keychain first aid but it couldn't repair it. So I just moved all the files out of the folder, which fixed my keychain problem but apparently led to this iTunes problem. I didn't trash them because since it was in the system folder I didn't want to permanently screw up my system so I just moved them.

I put all the files back and now I'm back on the music store. You'd think that when I sent the problem to apple, stating the initial keychain issue, they would have queried that in some way, but no, I got nothing useful back from them.

Well, some of the problems related to incidents mentioned in this thread not just now GONE, but RESOLVED.

I had decided to contact and report to iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com. Exchanged a couple of informative messages with "Todd" and finally got confirmation (as follows) that Apple had resolved the pb. I did not worry much in the meantime, given that so many folks around here had reported similar pbs regarding access to certain areas of the iTunes Store.

Stuff happens!

It seems to be acting up for us right now, as well. We have several Season Passes for TV shows and purchase from the iTunes store all the time. I am trying to get it to download a digital copy of Twilight that came with the Target version of the Blu-Ray disc.... I suspect that a lot of people are trying to do the same thing, (oops! sorry!) which is why I logged in very early in the morning, and it still doesn't work.

Not having used the gift cards / codes very often, iTunes will hang onto them and will process them when the store is up and running, correct?

As another poster suggested, it would be extremely helpful if Apple would make a status page for the iTunes store, so that known issues could be checked without having to wait for an email response.

I installed iTunes 8.1 this afternoon: it takes about 10 minutes to display the store home page, then another ten minutes each time I search before any results are displayed. Whether I browse with Safari while I wait, or read mail, or just just run iTunes makes no difference, everything else is fast, the Store is sssslllllooooooooowwww. I downloaded an app: that was blindingly fast, but the store is so unresponsive it's boring to search now.

Same here. Exact same problem since upgrading to 8.1 I have season passes and currently 57 pending downloads. I've tried using iTunes 8.1 on both my MacBook Pro and my PC with no luck; getting the same error that the iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. I've downgraded to 8.02 on both machines and still got the same error so it's obviously not a client side issue but an issue with the iTunes store. Customer service has been back and forth with me since this past Saturday, 3/21 but won't provide any concrete status updates or timelines. They just keep saying they're sorry and they're working on it.
