WiFi Signal Strength Meter

I am hooking up a new MBP and a new AirPort Extreme and trying to find the best location in the house for the Airport.

In 10.4 under "internet connect" you got a screen that showed a signal strength meter for the connection.

In Leopard, All I see is the little antenna bars in the menu bar wich don't respond very fast and seem to have a pretty coarse response.

Is their a real signal strength meter hiding in leopard anywhere? And is there an easy way to tell whether you are at 2.4 or 5 GHz?
