Tiger & Camera RAW for Canon Rebel XT (350D)

I'm trying to find out WHEN Apple will update either iPhoto or Tiger (presumably the latter) so that it natively reads Camera RAW for the Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D).

I've looked on both Canon's and Apple's site with no luck other than to find what I already know (that it's not yet supported). Has anyone heard rumor as to when support for this format might be forthcoming?

I already have Adobe CS2, so I have RAW support. The reason I want iPhoto to support RAW is so I can use the slideshow and "book" features without having to process my RAW photos into JPEG first (I have enough space on my Powerbook's hard-drive used up by RAW's already - I don't want duplicate files).

I have not upgraded to 10.4.4 yet. I need to do that
this evening, but I have to wait until my wife goes
to bed since she works at home. 😟

By the way, 10.4.3 worked with my Rebel XT. Did it
not work for you?

iLife '06 definitely sounds great.

No my "350D" didnt seem to work with 10.4.3, from what I can see the list of cameras that iPhoto could work with did not have the "350D" in the .plist but it did have the "XT"

R 🙂

That was the difference, I guess. It is a little distressing that Apple did not have someone to check something like this and find that the model was named differently on both sides of the Big Pond.

I know that this thread is quite olad and support is supposed to exist for the 350d. I see you mentioned you had an Asian version of the camera. I have just purchased one in New Zealand (I suspect it is Asian) and I have no support under iPhoto even though I'm using 10.4.5. Have you suceeded in using RAW files with your EOS and iPhoto?
I would be really keen to know.
Many thanks,Will
