iTunes 8.1 syncing issue

Last night I upgraded to 8.1 and when I went to sync my iPod touch 2g this morning it said that "iTunes could not sync calendars to iPod " " because the iPod disconnected. Yesterday I had no problems so I think that it has something to do with the update. Has anyone experienced this too and have you found a way to fix it.
