itunes dont respond

i load itunes up and after 5 seconds it says itunes doesnt respond any ideas why?

OK, get rid of these files
iTunes Library Genius.itdb
iTunes Library Extras.itdb





When you start itunes again, it should be so busy trying to re-build those files, you can stop it.
If the message at the top says "Gathering info about your library..." there is an X to the right. Click on that.
edit - It might also say "Sending information to Apple....." but there is still an X to stop it.





Then go to tunes menu > Store > Turn off Genius

Keep clicking on the X to stop Genius. I don't know why it is grayed out in the menu, it is there on my PC.

There is also a very good idea from another user, RCElliott,
in that thread. Disable your internet connection, start itunes. It will not be able to connect to the store due to no internet, and you can turn Genius off.
