Keyboard adapter to connect to Mac Mini

I just bought a Mac Mini (1st time Mac user). I wanted to use my existing Dell flatpanel monitor and keyboard. I purchased an adapter for the monitor, as recommended by the Apple salesman. However, no adapter for the keyboard was suggested. My keyboard does not have a USB connector. Apple now claims that I needed to buy a USB printer. I do see USB keyboard adapters at various websites (including Amazon), which seem to be primarily for PS/2. So, do I really need to purchase a USB keyboard, or would an adapter work for this? Recommendations?

Unfortunately yeah. You'll need to get a usb keyboard. The way usb is designed your keyboard needs a usb controller on the it to work if you wanted to hook up an adapter. So a simple adapter usually won't work.

NO WAY!!

I'm using the ps2/usb adapter and everithing its ok.

my adapter haves 2PS2 x 1USB and i have the mouse&keyboard conected.

dotn spend more money.

Ahh! Sorry I was wrong. Hmm, I wonder if my old school fujitsu kb will work haha. I miss the old klickety-clack kb's.

I am having the same problems with my mini. I bought the individual adapters that go on each ps2 plug for my keyboard and mouse. and they are not working. I plugged in a usb mouse that I had and it worked, but keyboard with adapter still not registering. Do i need to buy the adapter that has one usb and 2 psr plugs on it, I don't see why there would be a difference?
