Does anyone know if I will be able to run Autocad on the new mackbooks? I have parallels and windows that I will install. I just want to make sure the macbook's have enough power to run autocad?
Before running AutoCad, consider the additional cost of installing Windows, protecting your environment from viruses and spyware for Windows applications versus the simple cost of converting to and from an AutoCad alternative title such as those listed on my FAQ*:
Just found this post. I have been running autocad through parallels for 3 years. It is fine on all of the new imacs and mac books. The only issue I have noticed is that the mouse tends to track funny in Autocad. I have one machine that I run with a wacom tablet. And I have no problems. Does anyone have this tracking problem with the mouse in Autocad. Zooming and panning is rough and the crosshairs jump around.
i just got a new whitebook, bottom of the line and auto cad runs great. its as fast if not faster than on my desk top 2ghz pent. 4. i only just got it and havent used auto cad in awhile but i'm pretty sure that it's way faster.
i have 2.0Ghz processor and 2GB ram.
IMHO: there is now no reason to accept any other program just to run in the mac safe world.i'm mac from way back to the system 8 days, but the only reason i bought my new macbook was that it runs windows, and has a fire wire port(i hope this is not the last firewire mac they make)and it seems they're phasing it out.
I'm having trouble deciding which notebook is better to run AutoCAD and Inventor on. Since Apple has just updated their notebooks yesterday, the two I'm deciding between are: 13" (2.53GHz) and the 15" (2.53GHz), but I'm also considering the 15" (2.66GHz) model.
Can anyone tell me the non-apple retailer difference between any of them? And which one is probably the best one to get?
Oh, and if I'd need to buy Parallels or VMWare or whatnot?
i use autcad 2010 & revit 2010 through bootcamp on my MBP ad it actually runs better & faster than on my work PC. by running cad through bootcamp you are utilizing the full potential of all hardware. if you install through parallels, the hardware is being shared by the mac operating system and window. this will slow down autcad considerably. i would recommend installing through bootcamp as it will fully utilize the ram and memory. hope this helps.
