LiveType won't open

Okay. I've been using LT for 6 years with no issues, so I'm not sure what is happening here. I try to launch LiveType either from the dock or the Applications folder and the little LT icon hops up and down (like usual) but then the computer freezes and I get a spinning beach ball. It unfreezes itself a minute later, without LiveType ever having opened. I've shut down and restarted, to no avail. I need this for last step of a project due on Tuesday, and hope to work over weekend, so if anyone has any advice, it is much appreciated.

PS - I've not loaded any new software anytime recently, so don't think that is the issue.

Hi Jon-
So, the disk utility repair did not work. I wrote down all of the message, if you'd like to see it, but basically it reported "disk cannot be repaired."

Now my problem is that I cannot seem to boot back up into my computer again? (I'm now on my other Mac typing this). I'm in some kind of vicious circle here. If I quit installer, I have the option to restart (which - even if I don't hold down "c" just restarts me into the installer) or "startup disc" - which also leads me to installer. How do I boot back up regular so that I can try that disk warrior idea from your last post?

Oh, and if disk warrior doesn't help me, is my next step to do a clean install?

Disk Warrior repairs damaged directories and hard drive file structures. If that is what is causing your problems, DW will fix it in a few minutes.

If it can't fix it, your next step should be to back up your irreplaceable stuff, such as music and photos etc. The fastest way to do this is just copy your entire User folder to an external drive. You can always reinstall software from original discs or download again.

I think your advice has solved my issues. I went in a second time using install disc and entered disk utility and this time it repaired correctly. I reinstalled Live Type and it opened successfully. I'll play around a bit and plan to mark this as solved later.
