Importing video from sony dcr-ip5

I'm trying to import video from Sony dv camcorder dcr-ip5. I have it connected to the firewire port but imovie won't recognize it. This model dv camcorder is not listed as on of the compatible sony camcorders on apple's website. IS there any way to import video from it into imove? Please help

Buy a miniDV camera and copy the tapes over using audio cables and S-video cable. Then sell the Sony.

I have to agree copying to something iMovie will recognise is the way & if possible return the MicroMV cam & exchange it if possible.

There are workarounds, but too much extra work to my mind.

BUT WHO WOULD EXPECT TO AVANTGARDE PRODUCTS NOT TO MATCH??

Especially since Steve Jobs had Sony's video manager on stage during Macworld expo in January. But maybe the actual products will come out later?

can you tell me what the Quick time add-on was? I downloaded the Firewire application, but I still can't get the mpeg off the micromv.
