iMail and gMail unread spam messages

Hello

I have iMail set up to collect a gMail account over IMAP which perfectly

However I cannot find out how to change two settings.

Firstly how do it stop it downloading all the spam. The gMail spam filter works well after a couple of years of training so I am happy to leave all the spam emails on the server. There does not seem to be an option not to download the spam folder or am I being thick.

Secondly I have, in iMail, a inbox where I read the emails, this updates the read status of an email instantly from unread to read, however I also have a folder called GMAIL which does not update. So I will have 3 unread in there even if I have read the versions in the inbox, is there any way to sync these a bit better?

Many thanks

R

Hi Reggie,

Try activating the Advanced IMAP controls on your GMail account over at the www.gmail.com page. You may need to activate it via the 'Labs' extensions link at the top right of the page.

Once that is active, in the GMail website settings, you can tell GMail what labels to synchronise in IMAP - i.e. turn off the spam/junk label.

As to the second question, I don't know a way to make it synchronise more quickly. It will eventually realise a change has been made though. If anyone knows a way to speed it up I'd like to know too 🙂
