I use a LaCie at work - they make good drives. It's big and bulky, but reliable.
I also use a WD passport - one of the new ones with 800 firewire. It's a good drive. I do worry a little about the portable ones, as they tend to die easily - so you need to show some caution with them.

I have always found that Apple designs it's own best accessories for its own Apple Products, and have been very happy with their Time Capsule, which combines both the wireless router and the backup harddrive in one -- it looks great, and it works perfectly with no problems, ever. I have on at home and one at work.
