I keep getting this "File I/O error."everytime I try to render something in FCP. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be helpful. I've thrown away files in the render manager and it seem to work for a short amount of time and then it happens again. Help!

What an irritating message. I get it sometimes too, it tells me NOTHING. It doesn't identify an offending file, it gives me nothing to work with, I might as well be using Windows.
What format are your clips? what format is your sequence? Are your drives formatted macosextended?
Are you using any cmyk graphics? If so, replace with rgb.
Also, run diskutility:repair and diskwarrior (if you have it) on drives.
BTW with my most recent error, in a sequence 18 mins long, I split up the clips into three different new sequences and tried exporting each. The first two were fine, while the third gave me the same error. So I trashed the original media and reimported it from my camera. That fixed it (I guess there was a corrupted clip in the final third).
I just wish the program could be more specific and tell me exactly which clip is causing a problem.
