iWeb Sites Unpublished

I updated iWeb today.

When I went into iWeb to publish a page, I found that all sites were red now. I thought that was odd for an update. So, after updating a page, i published that site (I have several). All was well. I published the next site. But, as it started to publish, the first site changed back to red. So, I published that one again, and as it updated, the second site changed back to red.

I am using MoblieMe and have had no such issues in the past.

What is going on?

I'm new to using this discussion thing. Wonder if you folks could help me w/ an iweb problem i'm having. I have two websites, an older one w/ my .mac and a new one w/ mobileme. The mobileme one is just one page that is linked to my old .mac website. Unfortunately, i deleted the mobileme page thinking it was a duplicate i could get rid of. Now when i try to give that page in iweb the same tiny url it had before, iweb won't allow me to type out the tinyurl in the Inspector pallette. The tiny url is http://tinyurl.com/facesofbuddha.com I hope i'm explaining this OK... Thanks!

Hi,

I had all red pages as well. After spending all day trying to publish all the changes, iWeb completely lost it's mimd. It crashed and when I reopened it, nothing. According to iWeb I had no websites.

This happened once before and I just rebuilt everything. This time I used my Time Machine backup and restored my *Users/Username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2* file. It worked iWeb recognized all my websites and pages.

This is just food for thought. If this file and your website don't match up then everything goes red. It might be something like a time or date stamp messing everything up.

OK, quick update. Following other posts to the effect that the problem had been resolved, I gave it a shot, and to my dismay found that I still had the problem. I then did what has been suggested by some posters: Sign out of Mobile Me (System Preferences), repair permissions, reboot, log back into MobileMe, and upload the entire site.

While this took a while, I'm please to say that everything is now back to normal. I wish Apple would make some sort of announcement letting us know what the devil happened.

I'm still having difficulty with mine. I'm on iWeb 1.1.2 with one site. Worked great, upgraded to iWeb 09, caused an unbelievable amount of problems with my site (changed graphics, placeholders, way slower loading, etc etc etc). I used Time Machine to restore back to 1.1.2 and it worked great again! I've been using it for about a month with no problems until... Just like everyone else, my pages started showing red overnight a short time ago.

I did a bunch of testing - removing individual pages, files, pics and narrowed the problem down to the blog. If I remove the blog page, the website updates correctly (both updating changes and the full site). Once I add the blog back in, my pages stay red and I get the 'error updating' message, even though all of my changes are upgrading as usual.

This has not been fixed to date for me - anyone else still having difficulty?

Parts of my site are publishing correctly but others are not. I have two websites, one for my classroom and one for my family. The school one, which happens to be the top one on the site list, works fine. I have photo albums, blogs, movies etc.. on this site. The family site publishes fine until I update the school one. Then, just my family blog pages turn red again, even though I've made no changes.( I actually have two blogs on this site due to some other issues from when I upgraded to 09.) I've tried the logging out, permission repair thing. I'll try again tonight and do a restart. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I separated both of my sites into different files.

The file is located at User>Library>Application Support>iWeb

You duplicate the file twice and put the original in a folder (I labeled it Old) as a backup.

I put each of those new files in its own folder and renamed them.

I also put them in the dock and removed the iWeb icon from the dock. This forces me to start iWeb using the file of the site I want to work with.

I opened up one and deleted one of the sites in that file and republished. I did the same for the other.

I hope this will help you.

Sky,

Thank you. I guess I'll give that a try if I can't get it working after signing out and repairing permissions again. I really hate to have to deal with it broken in two but if that's how it needs to be ... OK. I was going to try deleting the blog files but I don't want to lose them. I'm not sure how to go about making a new one and quickly putting all the old entries back. I wish it would go back to working the way it used to.
