iWeb Publishing Whole Website...

Oh my word, every time I make a correction to my website it wants to upload the whole thing and NOT just the changes. What gives? I am running this under Mobile Me and it just started doing this BEFORE the update. Now that I have updated it... the thing continues to do this... Any thoughts as to why it has to publish the whole thing time and again rather then just the changes?

Thanks in advance... Jay

Everyone, I think this is real important. When iWeb 07 and 08 came out, they both had major problems until they fixed them through updates. I can remember being so excited about the simple features in 08. I rushed to update and it caused me hours of pain until the updates came out. So did I learn... no way. I expected Apple to have an excellent product like most of their stuff is. I love iWeb but they really need to get it straight and give more attention to this product.

Please let's all join together and leave feedback by going here... http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html

I am not sure if they ever read these blogs so it's important for us to request there assistance. Do you all agree?

I sort of agree with you and have done just as you said, after all they are only human and deserve respect.

BUT I cannot see how it can be a software issue IF it was working before and not now, nothing has changed on my computer, nothing!! with no updates at all, I never update on my main machine until the issues are ironed out by someone else.

So if nothing has changed on my machine it can only be mobileMe.

What's most surprising about this situation is that Apple hasn't posted a System Status change or other Announcement on its MobileMe site yet. They must know that there's a problem by now, and it would help all of us a lot if at least they acknowledged a problem and that they were working on it. It only seems to happen when such glitches get magnified in the press that Apple feels compelled to come out and say something. Geez, isn't this what are System Status alerts are intended to do? Apple should have posted something by yesterday noon at the latest; by then it was pretty obvious there was a problem.

This is incredible Apple, wow. This is like releasing iTunes, but you cannot make various playlists. It's like releasing iPhoto with the inability to put the pictures into Albums. It's like releasing iChat with the inability to add additional people into a conversation. The VERY basis of the iWeb '09 program is broken at it's core, that is, the ability to publish properly. That's just unacceptable.

I'm off to use Address Book, so I can add new people into it, oh wait...what's that? I cannot add new people now after the latest update? Oh, no big deal.

I agree 100% with you that the problem is bad but it is not related to the iWeb update (3.0.1).

If you read the threads carefully you will see that people are having this problem even though they have not yet updated the software.

There has clearly been a change at the MobileMe end of the service that has caused this problem.
Now that change at MobileMe MAY be linked to the release of 3.0.1 but we can't be sure.
On the other hand it could just be a technical issue they are having.

One thing is for sure, they know about it, but have said nothing yet.

Indeed, it's better to just stay quiet though, right? Ugh.

No one said 'stay quiet'.
I simply pointed out that this issue relates to MobileMe and not as you inferred iWeb.
Better to be right than wrong, right?

If we point out the facts correctly then Apple may be able to pinpoint the issue quickly and get it fixed.

I agree it is a BIG issue, I have 8 web sites that I maintain and I cannot go through a complete republish each time, there are not enough hours in the day.

I think the staying quiet issue is referring to what Apple is choosing to do.

Here is a question for all of you though. For most of you iWeb is still working right? Regardless of the blue or red, you can still publish right? Ok, I realize this is not ideal but you can still make changes. Or am I missing something.

For me it's not that simple. I still get the huge publishing error often about the temp files. I have no idea what this means or how to get around this one. Does anyone else. Finally I just posted another site but my main menu bar is gone. Any ideas how to get this back? This is nuts!
