iTunes freezes when iPhone is plugged in for syncing. Already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, Quicktime and Apple Mobile Device Support. Already rebooted computer and iPhone. Running iTunes 8 for Windows and the latest software version for the iPhone.
It's there a fix to this issue? Jesus I'm getting irritated, it seems like this issue is with itunes running on my vista x64 machine. When itunes is runned on my other laptop with my iphone it doesn't freeze but I don't want to go be erasing and syncing my iphone everytime. Also just an fyi I've never ever downloaded podcasts through itunes or my iphone so that's not causing my issue.
I've had this problem for about a week but never actually had time to play with it. I was reading the posts but it wouldn't help because i never used podcast. So the i desided to disable the automatic syncing with itunes, (Edit/Preferences/Devises) and it worked right away.
IDK if it will help anyone ealse, but i thought i should post this.
Don't know if this might help someone else. I fixed the issue everytime Itunes freeze I open windows task manager and instead of ending itunes process I end syncservices.exe after Itunes stop freezing
Do you even have a Maxtor drive? If so, maybe windows has gotten confused between the 2 devices.
What folder is syncservice.exe stored in?
If you don't have a Maxtor, it may be a malware program.
No, syncservices.exe is part of itunes. I just plugged in my iPhone and open file location for that process in my task manager and this is where its located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin. I also checked my device manager and no I don't have a maxtor drive.
No, it did not help. In fact it had no effect whatsoever. It remains frozen as is, thus making a good wallpaper for the desktop. All that Apple aver made - amazing, is not it?
I was getting the same problems ever since an iTunes update in March. After about three rebuilds of the phone I solved the problem with my iPhone - hopefully this will help you.
In the Devices tab of the Preferences dialog box in iTunes I unchecked the box labelled "Look for iPhone and iPod touch Remotes" and then everything worked again. With the most recent update of iTunes I did have to reboot after installation and then reboot again to have it find my iPhone.
Mine was unchecked all the time. What seems to have done the trick for me was to block "calling home" for Apple Mobile Devices Service in firewall. Bizarre as it may sound but it seems to be working better now.
I spoke too soon. It freezes again, and everything seems to be checked fine. As I said earlier, I think it is just a junky application and the only one that is compatible with junky product. So it makes a perfect combo for us to waste time on. At least I could never rely on it to take my calendar along with in a hurry - and what could be more simple than that!?
yeah.. I have same problem and called apple support, and since it's been more than a year, they wont even HELP ME...I told them that was a REALLY low blow.. I'm never buying anything apple AGAIN.. WHAT A LET DOWN..
