There have been a few apps I've been wanting to use but require classic. I have a mac mini power pc running mac osx 10.5 but I have not yet found a way to install os9. anyway to do this? or some solution to run my apps somehow?

Welcome to the forums DaDak. Unfortunately 10.5 killed Classic, so unless you downgrade to Tiger, you can't run any classic applications.
Thanks for the warm welcome 🙂 and thanks for the replay. So there is no chance I'd be able to run classic on my mom's iMac. dang. so if I were to downgrade my mac mini back to tiger, what will I have to do to install classic? how will I instill it? I don't believe I have any of the classic disks. Also before I upgraded to osx 10.5 I tried installing classic but I don't remember what exactly but it didn't work.
Input? suggestions?
and thanks again,

One easy way to install "classic" OS 9.2.x is to copy the System Folder on a Mac running OS 9.2.1 or 9.2.2 (best) & transfer the file folder to the OS X hard drive.

Since all Mac Minis were released after Apple's shift away from Mac OS 9 booting and restore CDs that included Mac OS 9 on their label, restoring Mac OS 9 on a mini requires these instructions from the original Mac Mini installer discs that came with your Mac Mini G4:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61802
or these instructions:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301468
If you are missing those discs, you may be able to get ahold from AppleCare of replacements. If they don't have them, and you didn't get those discs when purchasing your computer, contact the original owner of the machine to see if they still have them.
You can either erase and partition your hard drive to have 10.4.11 and earlier on one partition following these directions:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61301
or you can connect a Firewire external hard drive known to be compatible with 10.5 to restore your Mac OS 9 system folder. If you made a backup before installing Mac OS X 10.5, you can always restore your backup.
Good luck. By the way, check my FAQ on migrating to Mac OS X*:
http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html
Maybe it will make the necessity of those applications no more.

Tom, my issue with that is, I think you need an os running os 9 already, which i don't have, but in the next few weeks i'm trying to get the parts of my mom's old e-mac and seeing if i can just resurrect that. but who knows if that thing will work again. its been dead for at least a year.
Also a brody, and Tom, thank you for your replies. i can see i'll be in for a bit of work over the next few weeks when i have some time. I'm going to try getting Mac os 9 first on the e-mac, and then see if i can put it on one of my hard drives like you said, a brody. and again thank you both, I'll let you both know how it all turns out over the next few weeks or so.
Cheers DaDak
Welcome to the forums, DaDak.
Although Mac OS X 10.5 dropped support for the OS 9 classic environment, it appears that you can still install it seperately onto your Mac Mini. This is the list of hardware that supports OS 9: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1835 As far as I can tell, all machines that have PowerPC processors can run classic. You'd need an emulator for Intel of course.

Hadye is right you need a emulator to run classic u can't boot in to mac os 9 but u can run mac os x 10.5 and mac os 9 at the same time
Macintosh os x 10.2.8
Macintosh os x 10.2.8
Thanks for that tid bit of info. i think i might be able to do that, just i need to go back to tiger, but i'm currently running leopard.
Also, i got as far as getting a HD for the old emac, but when i try to install osx via cd, it doesn't recognize the HD. and i have no clue what to do. once i get the emac running i'm not going to bother putting it on my mac mini.

I take that back, i got it working, with os x 10.2, i'm working on installing classic 9 on it now.

Actually you can't. Read my aforementioned FAQ*:
http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#CLASSIC
They can be installed on the same system, but you still have to dual-boot 10.4.11 & earlier on a PowerPC Mac and 10.5. Intel Macs offer no legal choice for using Mac OS 9.
