clock reset

When I switched on my mac today the clock had reset itself. Everything else seemed ok - although the wireless password has disappeared too.

Should I be concerned about this? / what's the problem?

Thanks

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Quick update...

Shortly after posting this I found I couldn't print via the Airport, then my internet connection went down - or so I thought.

After various diagnostics I found that the Firewall was blocking connections.

A shutdown and restart fixed the problem.

Now, I have no idea why that should suddenly happen. When given the warning this morning that two apps could not receive incoming connections I did not grant them access, but nothing had changed as far as I was concerned. Clearly something had happened though.

This just happened to me moments ago.

My mac mini has been running for the most part of the week and I noticed Safari, Firefox and SystemUIServer were eating a bit too much memory and the computer was running a bit slow, so, I did restart from the Apple menu and was greeted with two error messages:

Your computer's clock is set to a date before Jan 1, 2008. This may cause some applications to behave erratically. To set the clock manually, open Date & Time preferences.

None of your preferred networks are available. Select the network you want to join from the list, then enter the network password if necessary.

Interestingly it does list the two networks, but doesn't remember the password for them.

I'm really puzzled by this and what might be the cause.

Of note also, the mini is on an apc ups with automatic voltage regulation.

are any of you syncing different computers / phones via mobileme ?
this has happened to me this morning but the sequence of events was like this :

Noticed my calendar was not updated, looked at the mobileme sync tab in system properties and it was switched off, turned sync back on and let it sync BUT it asked me if i wanted to sync the keychains and i said NO as i have different passwords on each computer and i had been having password issues on the mbp so i had deleted a few certificates and saved passwords.
then i have this issue with clock and firewall etc...

I have also noticed that disk utility is showing i have errors and need to repair from boot disk .. just a thought for you all ... check the least obvious things .. thats what i do 🙂

Joining the gang. Time reset to 1 Jan 01. Pop up stating functions might not work correctly due to date being earlier than 2008. "krb5kdc" and "cups-lpd" application request. Airport could not find Time Capsule. On a whim, I reset the calendar to present date/time and closed Time & Date Preference. No change. Restarted to ensure time/date was back to normal and everything worked tickityboo; no issues.

There's a "krb5kdc" thread in here, but it doesn't help. Still searching for a definitive answer, but wanted to post what worked for me and save others more invasive pain.

Yes, today I had the same problem you have all described, clock reset and wireless details lost. I noticed the clock was set to update itself automatically from Apple Europe (a tick box in the date and time preferences). Perhaps something is going wrong there? Perhaps the update is resetting the clock and then the fact the clock is set to a time in the past is screwing everything else up?

Anyway, I switch off this automatic update feature, reset the clock to the correct time, restarted the machine and now everything seems to be fine. Guess I will have to wait and see if it happens again.

Same thing happened to me ...

New Imac, only a couple of weeks old. Woke imac from sleep today, OS hung, restarted by pressing and holding power button, Imac restarted with time and date reset, wifi asking for password, and firewall messages stating that a couple of applications wanted to receive inbound internet connections. Seems OK now but all a bit strange. Not convinced my Imac is living up to the Apple hype!

I am joining the club as well.

About 3 weeks ago after installing 2 updates, 1life '09, and one that I can't remember. My Macbook pro decided to reset it's date&time after booting up. I receive two pop-ups telling me the date has been reset. It tells me to go change it in preferences. Then I receive a pop up telling me my desired wireless connection/time capsule can not be found when it is right in the list of names.

The only thing I have been able to do to fix this error is restarting my machine then changing my date and time by reselecting apple americas/u.s then it all goes back to normal.

I only have this problem when I turn my computer back on after shutting down. Otherwise, everything works fine.
Is there a simple fix for my type of problem?

I can breathe a little easier now that I know I am not the only one having this problem.
