clock reset

When I switched on my mac today the clock had reset itself. Everything else seemed ok - although the wireless password has disappeared too.

Should I be concerned about this? / what's the problem?

Thanks

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Joining the list here, waiting for some kind of official or definitive answer to the issue. It happened to me two days ago. Turned my Macbook on and received the awkward message: "Your computer's clock is set to a date before Jan 1, 2008". I had to set the clock manually, then again to automatic. After that I rebooted and everything came back to normal. I've heard comments about possibly damaged internal batteries, suggestions of resetting PRAMs, but nothing definitive.

Hope it is not a serious issue. I've had this machine for more than two years and it has not given me any problems before.

I have also noticed that it won't shutdown, when i go the apple and hit shutdown it goes blue and the little circle on the bottom turns around and thats it i left it like that for the night and when i woke up its been like that. I had to hold the power button to shut it down.

So i believe that my clock resets when i shut it down and don't have it plugged in to the wall the battery drains and the clock resets. Go figure :-/

Adding my name to this list. Was trying to get my Macbook Pro to read a **** DVD but it wouldn't so I shut down the Macbook and booted it up. It took longer than usual and when I logged in the date was reset, the wireless network had been forgotten and the firewall settings seem to have been forgotten too.

I posted a similar topic elsewhere

before I found this thread...

I'm amazed that none of the folks who've answered many of my questions have seemingly nothing to add regarding this topic... It seems like there are enough folks who've experienced this that there should be some information about what causes it and how to fix it...

I've booted my mac a thousand times I would guess and never saw anything like this until today... Clock came up back on Dec 31, 2000 and some oddball time like 4:35 PM (it was early in the morning on 2/9/11) and like others, I lost access to my home network... Re-entering my password fixed that so my guess is losing the date/time somehow causes the network password issue... But why would the clock do this and what might it mean??? My macbook pro was on its charger and fully charged when I booted it... Any ideas???

Same thing happened to me, clock was reset to Dec 31, 2000 and the wifi settings was gone. I restarted twice, and no change. After looking through this forum, I realized the clock corrected itself. Is this just a glitch? I wonder why Apple hasn't replied back to this thread that has been going on for 2 years.
