Hello, I've been recording quite successfully with garageband for just over a year now and upgraded to '09, and I've sold all my old 8 track machines and use garageband as a big tape recorder with lots of extras, I know how to make by own loops but find it a bit slow when I want to write a song, so does anyone have any good recommendations on any drum loop downloads or cds that would be less dance-electronic based and handier for straight rock, pop or country tunes, I'd like 4/4 and Waltz and two step and shuffles as well as ballads and mid tempo pop with individual hits.
I have seen stuff out there but I'd just like to know if anyone has used anything decent with garageband itself.
You can also convert "Band-in-a-Box" files to standard midi files and import them into GB. It might be a little pricey for what you are looking for, but with "Band-in-a-Box," there are endless possibilities available. You can input any chord changes you want & each style has a sub-style. Once you import into GB, you can even mix & match various styles in your songs. The only minor problem I have found, is that you might have to transpose the bass part up an octave (which is very easy to do in GB.) What I usually do, is take the drum parts out of the file & create loops from them. Especially swing & bossa drum parts since I haven’t found that many good jazz loops for GB.
