Why can't sync applications to iPhone?

I am having trouble syncing the applications in iTunes with my G3 iPhone.
I have downloaded about 40 applications over time but only had about 20 on my iPhone
My trouble started when I downloaded a ‘free’ application and when I tried to sync my applications I got an error message saying that I wasn’t permitted to sync that application.

Not know what was wrong I selected some of my other applications from under the application tab which weren’t already on my iPhone but none of these will sync either.

When I sync the iTunes window displays Syncing Contacts, then Syncing Calendar and then Syncing Application and in a matter of 2 seconds I get the message that syncing is complete but no applications have been synced to my iPhone.

So what I did was click on Restore and in doing this I now have an iPhone that works well in every way with the exception that there are no application on it at all and no matter what I try I can not sync any applications.

I have shut down both my iMac and iPhone, but that didn’t help. I have tried a different USB cable but still nothing and I have even re installed iTunes 8.1.1 but that didn’t help.
I believe that my iTunes account is active as I have played some purchased tunes and they play fine.

I am in one **** of a mess and don’t know what to do.
Can anyone please offer some assistance?

I an download them on my phone no problem to, rather it worked through itunes though.

Yes I did mean valid. I'm sorry, I'm just frustrated at the moment.......
I have checked the link you gave me and I might when I get home from work tomorrow change my password for a new one and then see if that works.

Hi,

Just sorted mine.
I went in to ITunes and went in to "Store" and "View my Account"
I then looked down the page and "Manage my ITunes" was disabled.
I clicked it and enabled everything, clicked done and re-synced my iphone and they all installed!

Hi, I checked View my Account and the button "Manage My ITunes" is already enabled. This doesn't appear to be the problem

Hi , sorted my problem which was the same as above.
Forgot i had reinstalled my os on the laptop.
Need to re authorize the computer if you have a new os install!
Works now 🙂

No idea my newbie experience help, but I also had no idea how to transfer my applications after my Iphone was cleaned and restored with the new software these days.

A lot of search in Iphone and iTunes (yes, this is the program in the computer). Then in iTunes I finally saw the Devices-tag (my computer). Under here I found 8 tabs "Summary", .......... and to the right "Applications". Here I could select Sync, and All applications. Now my 40 programs seems to be downloading, 50% finished.... Much faster than download them from WiFi or 3G...

my apps aren't showing up on ipone screen after upgrade, however when i use the new search screen (scroll left from main screen) and type in the name, they are they, just not as an icon!

I had the same problem. My application icon said that I had 27 applications that needed to be updated. Every time I tried to sync my iPhone to my computer it did not update my applications on the iPhone. The applications were updated on my computer. I even paid attention to status bar on iTunes and it did not show that applications were being updated. Then I tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my computer and it worked.

Why can't sync applications to iPhone?
