DVD digital copies to Ipod

What is the point of getting a dvd movie with a digital copy if the file can not be transferred to the ipod?

You'll have to provide more details...

First, you have to get it into iTunes (so that it appears in the Movies library and plays). Then, if you sync your iPod to your iTunes library (instead of the +manually manage+ setting), you have to go to the iPod's Movies tab to select that movie for syncing.

If after doing the above, the movie does not sync to the iPod, note that the maximum resolution that an iPod can play is 640x480. If that digital copy has a higher resolution (you can find out by doing a +Get Info+ in iTunes and looking on the Summary tab), you can use the

menu bar -> Advanced -> Create iPod or iPhone Version

command. Note: This can take a long time.

Because it is a commercial product, the ability for iTunes to create a different version may be restricted. Seems like the one that is 640x346 should work +as is+, since it is below 640x480. I have a video podcast that is 640x360, and it transfers and plays on a 5th gen iPod.

Are you sure the movie is selected for syncing on the iPod's Movies tab, and you don't have a setting like +all unwatched movies+ selected?

Nope, nothing works. However, is there a way to be able to keep adding music to the ipod without having to sync stuff that was already on it? I want to be able to sync up new stuff and not worry about losing what was already on my ipod.

When I try the movies, all it says is that the movie is not allowed on the ipod. Like my original question said, what is the point of offering a digital copy if people can not put them on their ipods and have the only option of watching them on their computers. You might as well take the dvd with you and watch it on a tv when traveling.

Thank you for trying to help me out.

You'll have to ask the studios that question, not Apple.

Syncing only changes on the iPod what changed in your iTunes library. So after syncing it the first time, subsequent syncs are not loading everything again. It is only adding new songs and, if you removed songs from your library, removing songs. What has not changed does not get synced. Depending on your settings for things like TV Shows and Podcasts, after you watch a show or episode, that item may get removed from the iPod automatically. Also, data from the iPod, such as play-count, ratings, and On-The-Go Playlists, get synced from iPod to iTunes library.

No... I can confirm the problem as well.
I have WALL-E, The Dark Knight, and Nitemare Before Christmas that I have downloaded via the Digital Download disc supplied with a Blu Ray purchase.
I have iTunes open. I select Movies in my Library. I select the individual movie file by highlighting it in blue with the click of my mouse. When I select Advanced and scroll down to "create iPod or iPhone version", those selections are grey-ed out. It won't let us change the resolution to play on our iPods correctly. I have also double clicked the file, I have started playback on the file. At all points "create iPod or iPhone version" is grey-ed out.

Any other suggestions? I'd like to get these working properly too. My computer specs are below.

I hope this is even getting to somebody. I have downloaded a movie to itunes in the way of a digital copy that I bought at the store. The movie came with 2 discs. I inserted the 2nd disc and a few minutes later there it is in itunes. As of late I have tried to do it again and I have no clue how to do it. I see now option to download it into itunes nor do I have a clue as to where to look. When I insert the disc it asks if I want to move the copy over to my computer. I of course say yes and even select the "movie folder" that itunes created. The problem is that the movie is in wav format not mp4. What do I do? I am thinking of deleting the movie from my computer and starting over. At this point I am lost. Any advice would be helpful
