Recently I've noticed that the green circle icon (with a white plus sign in it) that appears when you option-drag a file in finder for copy, doesn't work properly for me. It appears only for a fraction of a second when you option-drag and disappears again, only coming on for a millisecond when you drag and move around the file then going out again. Its a bit annoying and can't seem to solve the problem.
What controls that icon and what could be the reason this is happening?
I stumbled upon this bug a few times myself. I don't know what trigger it but relaunching Finder gets rid of it every time... until it comes back.. ha!
Hit ALT
COMMANDESC key combo to get the Force Quit Applications dialog. Select Finder then Relaunch.
I think I solved the problem. I uninstalled a few widgets that I had installed (iStats?) and everything was back to normal. Not sure why the widget was interfering with it but most likely that was the source.
Check your widgets. Some of them for some weird reason interfere with your Mac even when your widgets are not displayed. I think it was the iStats(?) widget which gives you the status of different resourced of your Mac like memory, cpu usage, etc.
