What is an ADPT PCI CARD?

I noticed that my Quicksilver G4 has a PCI Card ADPT,1686806-04: (2930 **). Does anyone know what this is used for?
Appreciate the info.

It's an Adaptec SCSI PCI card.

Here's the Knowledge Base article describing the Adaptec 2930** controller card. Because it's firmware-based, your G4 could be booted from an internal or external drive connected to it. If you don't have anything connected to it internally and don't have external SCSI peripherals, I'd remove it to free up the PCI slot.

Have you tried to actually get this card working? I have the same card and am having driver issues with 10.5.

Hello J.E.

I have a faint memory that Adaptec has abandoned support for Mac SCSI cards. You might want to look for a UL3S or UL3D ATTO Express card on eBay. They're fairly cheap if you keep watching, and I think they work well.
