iMac freezing - using 10.5 with newest 24" Intel

I've read a lot of posts about iMacs freezing and they seem to be mainly with the older gen's of them.

In my case, my 24" Intel iMac freezes and the mouse will not move, the force quit won't work as the keyboard doesn't respond, nothing works, basically I just have a screen and nothing happens.

I can only force shut down and restart the computer. The same problem has happened at least once to my wife and she did the same thing except put the computer to sleep with the power button and restarted with the power button and she got a message that the mouse wasn't synced up with the bluetooth.

Can this problem have anything related to using the wireless mouse and keyboard? I also read something about issues with freezing and that it was addressed with the newest software update.

thanks for the help

If you have an ATI 4850, Apple has released this firmware update:

Mac OS X doesn't have a "clean install", so if your issues persist, please start a new topic thread, and clarify what you mean by reading this tip first:

And stating more clearly what type of install you did, and if you applied the firmware update. To start a new topic, click on post new topic link here:

You'll get a wider audience, and hopefully someone who can solve your problem.

Well I guess I'll take it back. After all that time with some of the worst people you ever want to deal with someone called me back(none of the ones I talked to). This person (tech) said Apple will send me a wired keyboard and mouse today.
Just for a trial I unwired and went bluetooth. It worked for a while, I then put it asleep. Came back an hour later and it wouldn't wake up. I rebooted 5 times. Nothing. I unplugged everything connected to the iMac and waited a minute.Plugged in the power cord pushed the start button and it opened up. I then plugged in a wired mouse and turned off bluetooth. Everything working now without bluetooth.
My chipset is NVIDA GeForce 9400. I don't think the problem is there. I'm sure it's with bluetooth.
